). You can get a Celeron M or P-M pretty cheaply. However, if you're going to go Celeron M, I would find one of those Toshibas. I like the cheap Toshiba's better than I do the cheap HP's, esp since there are a number of cheap Toshiba Celeron M's w/15.4" screens. If you don't mind a smaller screen, the HP dv1000 can be configured QUITE nicely for around $1000. It has a 14" widescreen (brightview or regular), 40-80GB drive, Celeron M or P-M. Very nice. My girlfriend just ordered one with a P-M 1.7, 40GB, 256MB (she has another stick of 256, soo), wifi, BrightView, & 12-cell batt and it came out to be like $1100. Not too shabby IMO
Head over to your local Best Buy & check out the Gateway models too. They don't get below $1000, but are pretty nice as well and can be had with instant rebates. GL
