thanks but the exact power supply needs to be known. look on the label and see what it says. hopefully it has a brand name and you need to look to see how many amps the 12v can make. it should be clearly marked. and is this a pre built oem pc?graphics card:ATI Radeon HD 5450 PSU: 350watt atx powersupply Resolution:1980x1080
hard drive? and what is that link have to do with what you have? you are not making any sense at all. what is the exact power supply that is in your computer? open the case and look at it.261 is the number i got from this http://images10.newegg.com/BizIntell/tool/psucalc/index.html
and 350watt is what is on the side of my hard drive
yeah that is an awful power supply and is not even as good as many 250 watt power supplies. at best it could only make about 14 amps aka 168 watts on the 12v line in real world conditions even when brand new. I personally would not trust it at all for any gpu upgrade. your friend could have spent 15 bucks more and gone with quality name brand psu in the first place that would meet your needs.sorry im not tech savvy at all it says diablotek 350 watt atx power supply
thanks!
as I mentioned though it will not make those 18 amps at realistic temps. those cheap psus get away with 30 C ratings which is not realistic. jonnyguru himself said when you see cheap psu with 30C rating to go ahead and count on getting just 75% of its rated amps. so I was being generous as that would only be 13.5 amps. not to mention that cheap psus degrade quicker. It appears that your power supply outputs 18 amps on the 12 volt rail, which translates to 216 watts. It's a very outdated design equivalent to a modern 250W power supply, which is why it was very important for toyota to ask you all these questions. It will be at its limit powering your 95w CPU and a 75w video card, but it should work.
not even close. read my posts please.I think the 7790 would be within the power limits of this PSU (90W TDP). It's within the price range too (if you can find a good deal).
so how shouldd i replace my cheap psu?
