i'm having trouble in gaining muscle mass for my back...i've been incrementally pushing my muscles to gain but have now arrived at a rut that i can't seem to get out of...this is what i've been doing:

chinups: 3 set..10, 8, then 6 reps with 10 lbs strapped to me with proper form...then my grip gives out and i can't do anymore reps, but i still don't feel the pump...so i continue by doing
bent over dumb bell rows: 2 sets of 8 reps...then i feel pumped up, but the dumbells at my gym only go up to 65lbs :(

what else can i do to get out of this rut?

what other exercises?

i'm trying to gain mass, so i been keeping my reps low with heavy weights...should i increase my reps?

what back routines do some of you ppl do to add mass?

to gain mass, do heavier weights with less reps.

try doing lat pull-downs and back rows (rowing machine kinda) my lats have pretty good mass and i usually do sets of 140-160's for lat pull-downs (although i'm not sure my max), and last i checked i could almost max the rowing machine at upper 200's

I got my lats - which are so big I can glide on them - primarily by doing the excercise in the gym that is a pulley pulldown and the particular bar to use is the one that has two small parallel bars about 4 inches from each other. Let it go all the way up for a good stretch and then pull right down to your chest and then when you flex you can make the day night.

exactly what NewSc2 said..

try 3 to 5 sets of somewhere between 6-8 reps

next workout go even heavier for 3-6 reps

every other workout try doing a few ONE rep max weight.
