Hello,
I want to get a few opinions on what would be the easiest plan of attack.

A friend of mine has a desktop on a 64' Ocean Alexander :camera:, and right now he has three different options to connect to the internet.
1) EVDO
2) Local hotspots
3) Sat phone

What will be the best way to share these connections, wirelessly(SP?), with a laptop?
Can I just hook up a router, and use desktop as a gateway for all 3 connections?

Thanks in advance for any help.

It depends on what interfaces with the devices, do they all connect directly to the PC via pcmcia, usb, etc... ? If so, then go with ICS (internet connection sharing) built into xp, then to a (wireless)router.

If they all go to an ethernet connection, then you plug into your nic, then just plug directly into a router...

I was hoping it would be that easy. I just wasn't sure if it would work with all three.

If you go that route you'll need to set up the router manually.
Turn off the DHCP server in the router, your desktop will be doing that via the ICS.

Is ICS going to be able to handle some of those networking inputs? I remember having big problems just getting it to work properly with an INTERNAL Intel DSL Modem.

For sharing purposes, the best way would be to stick a Game Box Wireless client to a Wireless Cable/DSL Router's WAN Port, and use the public Hot Spots.
