I saved it in jpg and had to compress to fit bbzzdd.
The camera is a Canon EOS 20D using a 50mm f/1.4 lens.

For an EOS-20D at ISO800, it does seem like more noise than I would expect...but like someone else said, I don't notice the banding...

Look at where the kid's hair meets his forehead.
I think it may be a drawback to the 20D's CMOS sensor, but I am unsure as to how common it is. Do you have the latest firmware installed? Perhaps do a search for "banding" at these forums'.

I've got a 21" Sony G500 about 1.5 feet from my eyes. You don't see some banding in the lower left quandrant in the ISO 1600 pic?
