Hey guys,
A friend gave me his 9800 card after trying to volt mod it and he buggered up the PCB pretty good. I'm looking for some information on where traces go and there is a resistor that he broke too so I'm looking for the numerals printed on top and possibly a resistance check.
A picture of the area in question is at

http://www.madshrimps.be/howto/ATIRadeon9800Vo-jmke-457.jpg

In particular, I'm looking for the value of the resistor R936 which is covered up by the wire in the photo. I'm also looking to see where the traces for C128, R122,R115, and R114 go. You see, he flamed the area where that 1st pad is (the one that is soldered to in the picture) and ruined the traces in that area and I have NO IDEA where things are going.

A photo would be great and please send the info to my e-mail which is nino@_ NO SPAM PRETTY PLEASE _ purdue.edu

***Edit - updated the LINK as for some reason it wasn't working and so I just kept the URL in place. Please cut and paste the URL into your browser window.

C'mon, I know there are 9800 owners out there that have visited this link. Please take the 10 minutes to snap a macro photo and send it to me. I will be eternally in your debt ;-D

I can give you an address to send $$ if you'd like.

That, or call the ATI engineering dept. in Canada.

What?! No phone number.

Seriously though, I thought this was a community of enthusiasts and I KNOW there are a bunch of 9700/9800 readers and I can't believe that nobody has 10 minutes to take a photo and send it to me.
I guess "community" means something different.

Well I pulled my 9800 pro and it looks like it has different traces than the 9800. Is that correct? Which part of the board should I be staring at?

Edit: OK I found it. If R936 is what I think it is, it says 0 on it.

Not sure how to trace the traces, as it were... does this have the info you need? Trying to get a better picture without flash....

Edit, I can't get a better pic at the moment.

Thanks Andres3605 and Overheating.

You've answered the question about the resistor value being zero. I can make that jumper now.

The other photos aren't as clear,
Andres3605 - it's just too far out

Overheating - your photo is EXACTLY what I was hoping for except that the area in question is not readable because of the flash. Would you mind taking 1 more photo but either
1) move over 2 inches to the left or right so the flash doesn't wash out the area
2) use a second lighting source to illuminate the card and go without a flash.

I'd be so psyched if you could do that.

p.s. your rigs make me jealous.

PERFECT!

THANK YOU - THANK YOU - THANK YOU!

I will hack on it tomorrow and let you know if I succeeded or failed. Thanks again. I didn't expect such a quick response last night - sorry for the delay.

It feels good to help... :gift:  and the only reason I was reading the Video forum last night was because of the videocard launch...

Well I think I did everything correctly but unfortunately I'm greeted with a psychodelic pattern of floating boxes that are multicolored.

I'll still keep plugging away at it but I'm no longer as confident as I was ;-(

Thanks so much to those that have helped and especially Overheating.
