First off - Newbie to the forumn {1st post) and also First time computer builder (very green & wet behind the ears):disgust::confused:

Got computer all put together In Raid(0) format. Ran FDISK, then Formated (format c:/s)....all well and dandy. I get so far, as to the Windows 98 setup and then I get an Setup Detection Message(Message SU0013) and it reads:

Setup cannot create files on your startup drive and cannot set up Windows 98.
If you have HPFS or NTFS, you must create an MS-Dos partition. If you have LANtastic server or SuperStor compression, disable it before running Setup. See Setup.txt on Setup Disk 1 or the Windows 98 Compact disk.

Please, take it easy on the newbie, was feelin all good about set up, until I ran into this brick wall. Any and all help would be appreciated.

When you ran fdisk, did it see all of your raid setup? With raid 0 you should have a 90GB potential, but the fdisk that came with win98 is limited to 64GB(if I remember correctly). You may need to get the newer fdisk. The only other thing I can think of is the bios settings for the raid controller, both in the award bios and the highpoint bios. Try setting boot order to FLOPPY-ATA100RAID-ATA100RAID. Windows installation should go fine, you'll get prompted for the raid controller drivers(easiest to copy them to floppy).Even if you don't install the drivers immediatly, you should still be able to get into windows.

Now that you've said that, when I ran FDISK the results showed one(1) partition - Primary DOS with only 22,421 mbytes, Think I should be seeing 44,842...something(not sure) guess I'm not seeing all of the raid partition? Went to www.bootdisk.com and got another or (newer copy) of WIN 98SE and tried that, but to no avail. I also tried the Boot order you mentioned above, but no luck same thing. Now when I try to FDisk - puter says it cannot access or read Disk 1.

I've set the boot order back to ATA100RAID - ATA100RAID - ATA100RAID. I would appreciate any continued help on getting this newbie's computer up and running. I will be monitoring the thread the rest of this evening or just send me an Pm or e-mail with any help.....THANKS in ADVANCE!!!!!!
