Basically my car has been in my fathers name for a few years to make the payment process easier about 4 years ago. I paid off the vehicle but we still kept it in his name since I was still away at college.

The car needed a bit of work before it would pass inspection but the DE tags were about to expire.

I get the title transfered to my name and get a temp. registration and tags while the fixes were being performed. I was suprised the tags were metal since they were temps. I was given stickers for the tags that expire in 30 days.

Well, I got the car to pass inspection and will be applying for permanent reg. and tags tomorrow at the MVA. My question is

Do I need to take in the temp tags and get new ones or will they just gives me new stickers to place on the temp tag to make them permanent?

I searched the MVA website for a good 30 min. and could not find the answer. I just dont wanna have to unscrew the temps and take them in if I dont need to.

Thanks for any help with this.

I would imagine they'd give you new stickers. Calling them in the morning might not be a bad idea, though. ;)

I believe you have to bring them in.:( DO NOT go to an express. Title transfers are done only at the main office in Gaithersurg. GET THERE EARLY. They open at 8 and the line starts forming well b4 that. Make sure you have ALL the paperwork and the tags
