Put the winXP cd in your cdrom and set bios to boot from cdrom. Then use the winXP setup to delete partitions and repartion.

the actual order is paritition then format... but neways :p

the winxp cd should be bootable, meaning if you can go into your bios and change the boot order to boot off the cd first, it should boot right into the windows setup. from there, you can delete an existing partition (if one exists) or create a new one (it tells you how to do this in the setup). once its created, it will then prompt you if you want to format it. say yes and once the format is done, the install will continue and you're on your way.

hope this helps

You happen to have a maxtor or wd drive in there? If so, use the floppy disk they gave you and repartion the hard drive. You will lose all data, but at least that way your hard drive will be blank and you can install XP.

Boot from a floppy that has fdisk on it, which you can use to delete the partitions and then create a new one. Now boot from your CD to format with a new file system.
