Hi,
This is what i want to do,

Currently I have windows xp home OS + a lot of junk on my PC. So i want to format my hard drive and re install win XP home full version and have a clean start.

i have a CD writer drive so i burned all my important files on CD.

Please write step by step (please be as much detail as possible) how to format the hard drive, how to partition my hard drive in to two and then install XP
as soon as you can
thanks

1. Insert XP cd
2. Boot computer and enter the bios (delete or F2)
3. Make the cd the first bootable device instead of the floppy/hard drive in the boot menu area
4. Exit and save changes
5. Press any key to start windows setup when prompted
6. Windows will go through a bunch of stuff until it prompts you on what you want to do
7. You can format the drive or delete the current partition which I would do
8. Make a new partition and make it the size you want
9. Make the rest of the space the other partition
10. Proceed in the setup and format and then install windows to the first partition (most common is ntfs instead of Fat32 file system on the hard drive)
11. Windows will go all through setup and ask you some simple questions along the way
12. Activate windows when promted to do so
13. Download all the updates from microsofts site

Thats a real general rundown and I may have forgotten something but most of it should be there. Feel free to pm me with any questions🙂

12. Activate windows when promted to do so
You don't have to activate for 30 days, it may make sense to put off activating untill your setup is complete and well tested to minimize your activations. That said, I always wait almost the entire 30 days, and still upgrade my hardware enough over time to have re-activated several times with several installations without any trouble.
