Need help for athlon 700 overclock:-((

Hi,
I have an athlon 700 un mb procomp bvk1a(sorry but it's the only mb that I can efford🙁)
My problem is taht I can't go over 770.After that windows start ,but make me some errors.The second problem is to install the peltier kit that I bought.
I don't know how to unbox safely the processor,so can I apply the peltier without un box it??

Sorry, but I have never heard of that mobo, is it slot a or socket a? I guess you're oc:ing by changing the fsb, that will probably not get you that far (although some people have reported that they are able to oc the fsb to 110 mhz and 124 or 133 mhz, but nothing in between). You might also need to bump the voltage.
 
I'm here to answer all your questions...Don't worry about your motherboard, it will do...Right now you are over clocking via the FSB(front side buss). The problem with overclocking that way is that you are virtually overclocking your whole system..video card, memory, sound card etc....and those items, especially memory usually are not rated to go much higher than their default. So whats a guy to do to get his Classic Athlon 700 up and above 770. First, Roadrunner is right,your gonna have to get a GFD (Gold Finger Device) and they run about $20 -$30 and then your gonna need some good cooling and I would suggest an Alpha P7125 heatsink and fan they run about $30 as well. If you goto this site: Overcloking and GFD basics , this guy explains the basics of overclocking and the GFD in easy terms and if you are interested in getting a GFD he has a good one there you can purchase.
After you get your GFD and HS/F (heatsink/Fan) you will have to remove the plastic cover that surrounds the chip, this is actually not that hard to do and the Highspeed guy goes over how to do that too and you will also find that your chip will run cooler anyway. Then I would take the FSB back down to default speed of 100, right now your at 110. Follow the GFD instructions which are a snap to follow. Reseat your CPU back in the slot and your ready to go...

yes like the others said you need a gfd to unlock the multipliers (now at 7x). Right now you're overclocking the fsb (110 mhz fsb and 7x multiplier equals 770 mhz). With the gfd you can change the multiplier and the voltage given to the cpu. If you overclock a lot you usually have to bump up the voltage somewhat (up to 1.85-1.9 V is safe if you got proper cooling). To install the gfd you have to take off the plastic casing. Is your cpu a classic Athlon or a Thunderbird? If it is a classic you might have to change the cache speed if you overclock it much (I had to change it when I went over 850 mhz).
 
I personally don't rate clocking the FSB away from standard ratios because of the PCI and AGP buses. I have had consistent crashes even when underclocking on games.
 
Just as what others say. Get a GFD, and up your FSB a little bit to max out your cpu. You might have a cpu that has higher core than 700 then you can hit from 900~1000Hmz easy with proper cooling.

i have that GFD, I actually got the 750-->900 from them...crap isn't stable at 900, the GFD is great though, easy to use and is SMALL and doesn't require to be plugged in...
 
the GFD has settings up to 1.2 ghz but my chip couldn't even go to 900 though I was promised 900...I'm stuck here in 800 land
 
Check if you got a classic Athlon by looking up from below to see if you got one cache chip on each side of the core (t-birds lack these chips). If you have a classic, you probably have to lower the cache speed to get up to 900 mhz.

All gfd's work well, they basically differ in handling and quality. That was one cheap gfd 😀 be shure to use a 300 W power supply if you get one of those unpowered ones.

About uncasing: Check all the links I posted and you'll be safe. If you don't want to damage the plastic case, use something broad to bend with. I used a screwdriver and the case got somewhat damaged, but I can still put it back on.
 
About cache changing: if you got an Asus k7v using the latest bios (1.008c) will give cache divider contol in the bios. The same goes for abit ka7. For other mobos this link might be of interest. I don't know if the Mathlon proggie works on all mobos, but it is worth checking out.
