I am currently working on an annotated bibliography for a class on trance/techno/electronica music, specifically it's emergence and progression and while I've had success finding books on the genre, I am having trouble finding articles in periodicals, as all the ones at my local library are focused mostly classical music. So if you've read an article recently in any periodical, regarding trance/techno/electronica music and know where it is found, (titlle, edition etc) that would be awesome, a link to it would be even better. I am not sure about Spin or....whats that other music mag, but maybe if anyone has a subscription to that and has read something in there.

TIA

It's not a magazine, and it's intentionally biased as hell, but it's the absolute best resource for what you're trying to do. It's a web of the various electronic genres, with samples of everything and tounge-in-cheek analysis.

Check out Ishkur's Guide to Electronic Music.

all i remember is that electronic music started in Detroit. You're better off going on google and searching for something like the history of electronic music.

I am able to find plenty of information out there regarding the topic, except I would like to have an article some sort of periodical. I couldn't find anything on any scholary journals, in my school library. My last chance is to find some information on some sort of trance/techno/electronica magazine which I am finding rather difficult as all the ones I found do not offer online articles.

I would suggest researching journals in Canada or the UK, or English language periodicals in other European countries, since much of the recent progress in 'dance' electronic music (house/trance/techno) and the emergence of club culture can be traced back to Europe.
