i've decided to build a new system and switch from Win2K to WinXP.
i also want to transfer my two hard drives that i have now to the one i'm gonna build. well if i'm going to do a nice clean install of WinXP i would like to format my C: drive, trouble is i don't know how to fully do this under Win2k (under 98 is was a breeze). i've tried right clicking over my C: drive and selecting "format" but each time i keep getting a "the drive is in use" a long with some other directions about closing up windows etc. and i've done just that, closing up all running appz and windows but i still get this message. the second thing i tried was using a command prompt..i got a similar message except this time i was given the option to "force a dismount" i tried doing that but each time it told me i couldn't because the drive was in use. so whats the deal here? and whats the safest way i can format my drive to have it ready for WinXP?. any suggestions or help would be glady appreciated. thanks in advance!
