In trying to determine a bad hd, I made the very dumb mistake of plugging a hd connector in while mb was powered...after a small blue spark, comp shut down and no pwr to anything...

replaced power supply and back running for a day. After fiddiling with win98se(disabled fast shut down) I can no longer get computer to start...goes thru motions and then shuts down. Cant start from boot disk...runs a bit then just hangs

Asus p2bs w/p2 350 and 128

Is mb bad? any suggestions as to how to get comp to boot?....gives the 1 beep post...hangs...access hd....then shuts down

Thank you for helping someone who should know better

cant get anything to work after I

I can understand your wanting to find help, this is definitely a big problem. This is the second cross post of your Q. Sticky wicket, IMHO.

Most probably something is broke...Find a friend if you haven't got one (a friend is hereby defiend as a person owning a computer similar as yours (e.g. BX chipset)) and swich parts to find out what parts of yours are broken. you only need to use your cpu, ram, video and mainboard. (leaving pci out of the machine)(one at a time). this should do the trick... good luck
