Ok.. on the abit site it says flash the bios in real ms dos mode. I booted up with a boot disk. Once it booted up I removed the boot disk and inserted another floppy that had the KA7_TY.BIN ( I couldnt fit this file on the boot disk). Also the site says use this command

A:\> AWDFLASH KA7_TY.BIN /CC /CD /CP /PY /SN /CKS /r

and I got some error message. and it asked me to abort, retry, or fail

I am running on Windows Me.

A recent quirk I have had a couple of times is trying to flash from the boot floppy. I have resorted to copying the flash program and BIOS file to the hard drive on the system first. Doing this will tell you if you have a file problem on the floppy. Then boot to the floppy, since you are running ME, and log over to the hard drive and run the flash program from there. Don't know why this would make a difference but it has to me on a couple of occasions.

Most folks don't recommend this but it has ALWAYS worked for me.

1. Save bios files (awdflash and KA7_TY.BIN to "c:\bios" directory for instance).
2. Boot to dos.
3. Type "cd c:\bios".
4. Type "awdflash KA7_TY.BIN"
5. If you get a prompt to save the previous bios, select yes and pick a filename like "oldbios".
6. Cross fingers.
7. Go ahead with bios flash
8. You're done.

(You may have to reset bios settings if you put in any custom settings etc...). You may want to go into your bios first and make a note of the settings on each screen.

What I do-
Boot pressing F8 (using Win98,) go to step by step confirmation below safe mode and type "n", for no, on each prompt, go to a:, use flash program. You didn't load anything up by your responses so you really don't need to have a boot floppy. I couldn't run a flash program before using the standard boot floppy from Win98 because of all it loads.
