Ok long story short.
We picked up a stray cat that had a collar on it.
We tried to call the number on the tag and its disconnected.
This cat is extremely friendly so it had to belong to someone. No stray could ever be this social lol.
So what can I do next.
I have tried the following.
1. Calling sprint to have them check to number (it is infact disconnected)(the only info I have found was that the number belonged to sprint)
2. I have tried every search I could think of in google.
3. Tried Ebay
4. Tried craigslist

So if anyone has any idea what to do next I would love to hear it.
If you wanted to search for yourselves. The cats info is as follows
1. Name Jocko
2. Found in Erie county (ny)
3. Area code 716
4. prefix 570
5. I will not give you the rest of the number
6. All black

I do not want to take this cat to the shelter. I would really like it to be returned to its owner. I have 4 dogs and if any went missing I would be devistated. I am making the same assumption that these owners are also devistated.

I also tried facebook. That didnt work out at all

If the number is disconnected, why on earth would you not give it out?

Your best bet is a reverse phone lookup from a company like Intellius. There are a couple other good ones. They all charge money for the service.

Take the cat to a vet, cat likely has a microchip that will give you more direction of who's cat it is. The vet probably might also help in contacting other vets to find if the cat & microchip has ever been into any one and have even more contact information.

Nearby vets also could help by searching for a black male cat named Jocko in their records, maybe even have that old cell number in their records.

I thought about the chip last nite. I planned on taking the cat to the vet today.

I didnt even think about calling local vets to see if the cat belonged to anyone. Thats a good idea.

Take the cat to a shelter. They'll find the owner.

Absolutely NOT. Shelter will likely kill it, especially the so called "PETA" which is nothing but an animal euthanasia organization. Again, do NOT give the cat to a shelter, please.

Exacry. Take it to your local chinese restaurant instead. They'll love and care for the cat like it's one of their own.
