I have a desktop that is essentially an IKEA kitchen countertop mounted on height adjustable legs as my computer workstation table.

I'm looking for a height adjustable bookshelf speaker stand solution that can maybe go up to 12" in height, at least. I'd like for it to hold different bookshelf speakers. Since some have a threaded screw hole or wall mount holes in back and others don't, I'm thinking the solution needs to hold the speaker at the base rather than the rear.

What I'm thinking of is a C-clamp type of design to clamp onto my desk and a height adjustable metal pole slides into that clamp as well. Up top, the bookshelf speaker base support shelf is also secured to the same pole. I can adjust the clamp for the shelf to lower or raise the shelf height.

Ideally, there'd also be some elegant solution for keeping the bookshelf on the shelf in case of earthquake or something else.. so it doesn't just fall over.. I'm not sure what that would be just yet, however.

Anyway, does anyone know of a ready-made product I can purchase affordably to accomplish the above? If not, I'm wondering if I can find the parts that I need at Lowes/Home Depot to create one at a reasonable price?

Here's something that resembles what I envision:

But it's way too expensive at nearly $300! I'm thinking $80 at most.

Whatever else can and can't be said for those wall standards (and I personally think they're hideous), I'm pretty sure a shelf like that would not stay put during an earthquake.:D

Use monitor arms or laptop desk mounts. Might have to fasten a platform or shelf at the end of it for the speaker to sit on or screw into. Would give you good flexibility for positioning.
