Ok people...here's your misson if you choose to accept it: I need the best 21'' monitor on the market. I am currently using a SONY GDM-F400 and I love it. One prob...really expensive. On the other hand it is the best monitor I have ever seen. I am looking at either the SONY F520 or the NEC 1375X. I have also been recommended the EIZO but I don't know that much about them. I do mostly games but I also do some video editing and digital photography. My other concern is that this new monitor will do everything that I could ever want and more yet it lacks the crispness of my old SONY. I just want to make sure that my new monitor is as good or (hopefully since four years have passed!!) better than my SONY. Thanks people and remember...we can go all the way up to $1500 on this one. Have fun!

I am using a Nokia 445pro and like it really well. Maybe not the best of the best, but an incredible bargain at Costco for $399. Flat, no glare, no line "curving" at the top and bottom.

I have a NEC 1350X that I got about 4 months ago, and I absolutely LOVE IT. I am really picky, and I looked over this baby with a magnifying glass, adn there are NONE of the usual flaws that I usually find and hate in most monitors. This baby RULES. I imagine the 1375X can only be better. The guide wires are thinner than a lot of em I've seen too.

Get the Sony F520. The client I'm working at now uses a bunch of them, and I have the urge to steal one every day ;)

They also use Dell 19'' LCDs which would look nice in my room as well......if it weren't for those darned security guards :D

Sony F520! Why? Because Sony monitors freakin' rock! Seriously though, I have a G500 and LOVE IT! It is the best upgrade I've EVER done. And the F520 is even better!

Another vote for the NEC FP1375X. Found it for $975.13 w/shipping at www.pagecomputer.com. If you want to spend a little less money, go for the Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 2060u. For a quite a bit more, however, you could get my dream monitor, the 24" Sony GDM-FW900, but that'll set you back a cool $1850 or so. I doubt you can go wrong with any product recommended on this thread, so good luck :).

thanks for that great list! I've never really worked with dell's deals as it were...how do they work? Also, is the Eizo F980 a flat screen or is it curved a little? If it is flat you would still recommend it over the F520? Thanks.

PS. It is a couple hundred MORE than the Sony. And the Eizo is almost two years old. Is it still that much better? I thought Sony was supposed to be the money whore. :)

Eizo F980 is non-flat Invar Shadow Mask tube, T962 is flat AG tube.
Flat or not flat is not important, flat ISM or flat AG mon is just flat glass in front of the tube to make it looks flat.

Sony's F series is comparable to Eizo, actually Sony F520's has the best AG pitch - 0.22 while Eizo T962 is typical 0.24, and Sony F520's vertical scan range 48-170hz is even better than Eizo F980's 50-160Hz.

NEC FP1375X is a good candidate too. It has "15-pin mini D-SUB connector (supplied) -AND- DVI-I cable (supplied)."

Hitachi 823F is another good candidate. It has 5 years warranty instead of typical 3 years on other brands.

About the dell's promotion, everyweek they have different promotion, you can see it when you go the software & accessories page, it's applied to the cart automatically. If you can wait, wait for next big % off promotion for mon.

I have a Mitsubishi Diamondscan Pro 200 22" monitor and love it. Definetly better than a Trinitron Tube monitor as the Diamondtron tube has the sharpness and clarity of a Trinitron but does not suffer from an overall dark picture as the Trintron tubes are known to produce. The review on this montior all have great things to say about it. Check it out before you make your decision...
