It's a Dell Optiplex (I have for work) and I have:

i7 2600
16 GB DDR3 1333 Ram
OCZ Vertex 3 MAX IOPS SSD on SATA 3 Intel header running at 550 MB/sec read/write speeds
Seasonic 650 X Series Gold power supply
Two 1 TB WD Black 64 MB cache storage HDD's
NEC PA 271W 27" monitor
NEC 3.0 PCI card
One pcie 16 2.0 slot
and one PCIe X4 slot

Frankly I dopn't do much gaming but want a great card so my options are open. Problem is length. I have 9.5 inches in length max for the card. With some cable moving I "might" manage 10 ' but that's kind of pushing it. Yes, the case takes full height cards.

Also, the cooler it runs the better since this case is obviously not designed for high end gaming and the necessary cooling for what I'm creating.

I also want 2 DVI dual link and two display ports minimum.

Thanks.

Thanks guys. OK, one display port would be fine. Prefer AMD brand...

This should not be too hard.

That's not happening. I don't think there are any AMD cards that have dual DVI and a display port. Maybe a mini. Usually, if they're going to have those, they only have 1 DVI.

I'll ask again, what are you trying to hook up to this thing? You realize, of course, that you can get converter cables such as DVI to HDMI...? That's what i use to run my 42" LCD as my 2nd display on my 560Ti (thought it does have a mini display).

Oh, and in general, aside from the 6870, your best bet for a tiny card is a 560Ti. There might be a couple of smaller 6950s, but with the options you want, they're gonna be over 10"

I'm just looking for flexibility with connectivity. I guess I'd be fine with one DVI-dual link and one display port, either mini or standard. I have cables for both. If it has an HDMI also that's fine but not necessary.

What's in the 9.5 to 10 inch length that's good?

This should not be too hard.

No AMD card above the HD5770/HD6770 will fit your original size critieria (under 9.5"). So actually it is pretty hard!

HappyMedium has provided you the best options out there.

Have you thought about just buying another case?

Agreed - with that much custom gear in that rig, just ditch the case. It probably has terrible airflow anyway - not what you want with a powerful graphics card. You can get a reasonable midtower case (Antec 100) for $40.

@ Happy Medium: My Bad. I missed the bottom of your suggestion in post 7. Thanks!

This project was never supposed to evolve this way. I just needed a higher end business computer at work and said what the heck, might as out in an SSD. One thing led to another.

Stinks that cards are so long in the high quality ones. This rig is way beyond my needs for what it's for anyway. I just like to make it as good as it can be.

What about adding a fan to the front of the case in addition to the dinky one Dell supplied? I still have plenty of room inside the front grill. Care to suggest a good one (quiet?)

OK, what if I jump ship and go with a G Force? What are my options now? Better card, ports I want and one shorter than AMD?

Reference nVidia cards and most of the 560Ti non reference cards are 10" or less. 560Ti reference is 9".

Yes the EVGA gtx570 HD is the fastest and best choice.
Second best would be a gtx560ti.

Happy - I disagree with you here. I think in a case that small and poorly ventilated, a hot card like a GTX570, with a shunken cooler like the one you mentioned, just isn't ideal. The 560 or 560Ti, on the other hand, are smaller by design, and don't pull down nearly as much power. Plus he says he doesn't game that much - so 560Ti is my vote.

Not to mention that the GTX570 is about $150 more expensive...

This EVGA 570 Ti is 9" and seems like it would fit great. How hot does it get?

It also has the display port I want.

How does this card compare performance and value wise to all the other 570 Ti choices out there?

Will my Seasonic 650 X Series be a good supply for this card. NewEgg says this EVGA 570Ti needs a 550 watt minimum PS. I want to operate with plenty of spare power and run the Seasonic around 50% if possible. Are these two components balanced well so as to not have to run the Seasonic anywhere near it's max. capacity? Maybe I should have gotten the 750 Watt?

How long does it take NewEgg to get them back in stock?

Thanks.
