Ok I plan on at least doing part if not all of my parents house.

I plan on getting an electrician to install a new circuit box and ground (which we dont currently have)

What I need is a look at some codes and regulations to make sure its all up to code while we do it. Does anyone know where I can go to find such info.

I currently live in Erie County, Springville, New York. (no stalking me unless your a hot woman)

I've found the Code Check books to be pretty good. They don't list everything, but most of the basic code issues. You need to find out what version of the NEC the city uses.

Try this code: up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, b, a , start

If you have doubts whether the electrician you hire knows electrical building codes, it sounds like you need to find another electrician to do the job. That is the whole point of paying someone to do the job (well, plus your time).

Re-read the OP. He said that the electrician was going to put in the breaker box. He was going to do the wiring from there.

OP, I thought I had a link to a code book in my favorites, but didn't see it - maybe it's on another computer. Here are some places you can check to get a rough idea:
http://electrical.about.com/od/codesregulations/a/commoneleccodes.htm
http://electrical.about.com/od/codesregulations/Electrical_Codes_Regulations.htm
http://www.howtowireahouse.com/House_Wiring_Electrical_Codes.html

Should give you a general idea
