to make some pasta at home, i am going to buy this gorgeous piece of work
http://fantes.com/images/7123pastamakers.jpg

60$ for an italian-made steel pasta maker. has cutter for spaghetti and fettuccine

however, i also want to make some tubular stuff...like macheroni
what i need is a beautiful BRONZE* (not plastic) extruder plate like this
http://fxcuisine.com/blogimage...maccheroni-04-1000.jpg

but i cannot find it anywhere. this one is made by Kenwood (not Kenmore), and not sold in the US. and still, i cannot find this one in particular on the Kenwood website

where can i get such a thing????

Why specifically bronze?

1. its traditional.. and it looks good

but 2. the sharp edges of the metallic plates leaves pasta with the rough surficial texture (as seen on photo). most plastic extruders (though ive barely seen any extruders online at all) leaves a smooth surface to pasta. smooth surface = less surface area for pasta sauce to adhere

Looks like what you want is the AT910 pasta maker attachment with the bronze screen- here is the bronze screen from an ebay store:

LINK

It isn't a US item, but I see a bunch of vendors who ship to the US.

(Google is your friend btw- lol)

Maybe you should be looking at meat grinder with a pasta plate?

never mind... ignored the broze part :)

Holy hell, you could get 500 lbs of pasta for that much. :Q

where are you getting your pasta for 50 cents a pound?

Bulk pasta, my friend.

Really, I was ballparking it. Pretty sure all of the brand name pastas at my local grocery store are ~$1 a pound, but I think you can get 4 pounds for $2 at Walmart.

Point is, pasta is crazy cheap, and $280 for a device to make pasta seems crazy. But the OP isn't looking to spend $280, he's looking to spend $60.

I am not sure he cared much about the budget, more a matter of finding the things.

i can do that for ravioli, tortellini, lasagne, fettuccine, etc... but you cant roll shaped or tubular pasta (atleast not that i know of)

supposedly some italian mamas will roll a thin sheet of pasta around a thick wire/cord, like extremely thick piano wire, and then pull that through for a hollow tube...but if i could find an extruder thatd be much better
