I have this one. It's somewhat hard.
Feels like leather wrapped over stiff cardboard actually.

i dont know if that one will fit
the sd500 is a little larger than the other sd series cameras

It should fit.
The SD500 is only a bit larger than the SD200/300/400.
It's not 100% snug with my SD300.
