Need help finding a song

[GodlessAstronomer]

I heard this song on a rock radio station a couple of days ago, it's soft acoustic rock. I don't remember any of the lyrics specifically but it was sung from the perspective of an American war veteran who participated in beating a prisoner and shot a woman holding a white flag. The chorus had something to do with the American flag. I think it's a fairly new song. Any help would be appreciated, sorry I can't be more specific.
