I use to sell lamps, and lamp shades, and repair them too. Take the lamp with you to try out the shades. What is above the feet? How high do the legs up?
1. Rule of thumb, for most shades, the shade should be the same length as the lamp. They balance one another out.
2. Shade should come to where the socket is.
3. What kind of socket does it have?
4. Does it use what is called a harp? Or is it a clip on shade, clips to the bulb.
Depending on what you find, what you want, you could change out the socket to accomodate the new shade.
If you could take a picture without the shade on it, that would tell me more about it.
You could go with a black shade.
Lots of options.
