I have been looking for a good midrange laptop for quite sometime. The main things I am looking for is a 14.1 or 15.4 inch screen, minimal gig of ram, and vista premium. As far as which processor to get that is in the air for me. I have no idea how good pentum dual cores are. And I am looking for a dual core amd or intel depending on best price performance ratio. My budget is 700-800 because this is primarily for home use. Here are the two I have looked at so far.

You're on the right track, HP makes a nice laptop and both are at nice prices. I'm not sure how the Pentium will benchmark compared to the Turion though.

does it really have to be from circuit city, have you also tried best buy?

i know that paying for tax sucks.

look for battery life too, if you could pay a few more bucks for more cells, go for it.

Best Buy has a wider selection of HP notebooks. They even have SE (white / silver) versions of the newer DV series with the in-laid wave pattern on the lid.
