Hello, is anyone familiar with a hardware device that will archive and store CDRoms, giving the end user the ability to review the contents of each CD, Select the appropriate CD Rom and then read/access the contents of the cd from the storage unit itself? This is vs, a device like Imation's Stakka that will only archive and allow you to select the appropriate CDRom, it does not have the ability to read/access the contents of each CD.

Thanks in advance,
Joe

I guess that is a good way of putting it, yes. Are you familiar with something like this?

You're looking for something like these. For a few discs they're not too bad. You start looking at dozens or hundreds of CDs in a jukebox, they get pricey.

For a single system (well, I guess you could do this on the network with proper software), another option is to rip images to a big hard disk and use software like Daemon Tools to mount them to virtual drives. Very fast, assuming you have enough capacity. Doesn't work well with some games that use CD-based copy protection schemes, though.

This will by far be your best option. I've not seen a frontend for such a task, but what I have with my movie DVD's on a NAS box is very similiar. Everyone on the network can just right click -> mount to their Z drive. Presto!
