And purchasing a 3500+ is a bad thing?

The performance benefits of an overclocked AMD system are infintessimately greater than those of a P4 system for purposes of gaming and general computing, check out the CPU Comparisons on AnAnd. Is this part of a build or are you just upgrading? If you are just upgrading you do realize you must purchase a new motherboard as well, correct?

Also, any particular reason why you need the Pentium 4 processor? Multi-tasking? Video editing? Anything?

Just wanna check some bases.

new system and everything. want a p4 cuz multitasking and encoding. But i've just ran into another problem. The 925xe boards arent upgradable w/ the new processors coming out but the amd 939's are!. Im in a pickle cuz I really want an Intel but, the upgrade path isnt there at all. plus ddr2 is intel but amd is switching over to it when they make their dual-cores this year. If i went with amd, ide have to get ddr for the moment whereas if i went with intel i could stay with ddr2 and not have to buy any more ram.
