Hey guys! I have a quiz in about 4 hours where I need to be able to calculate IRR, or Internal Rate of Return. I have been using the "Finance" program on my TI-89 (non-Titanium) all semester long to do TVM, NPV, bond rates, etc. However, this IRR thing is killing me! I can't figure out how to do the calculations manually and the instructor won't really help us out (who don't have the financial calcs) to do the math.

Does anyone have any Flash apps that can do such calculations? I do NPV one year at a time using the specified cash flows and then do the math at the end to get the result, but IRR is a different problem, it seems.

Any help or direction to a flash app or calcuating IRR manually would be great. Thanks in advance!

The most we've done in class is 5, but I wouldn't be suprised if he throws in a 6 or 7 year period.

that's problematic. so essentially you are given npv and cf, and period, initial investment, and you need to calculate r?

not sure how you will be able to do it manually... can you use excel?

Thanks! I will be the hero of the day when I come to class and can help everyone out before the quiz. :)

That's a great link. For my 89, I have to type in a different word, but the people with the 83 will be pleased with just having to type in IRR.

No kidding! My 89 has to even sit and crunch the numbers for a couple seconds before I get an answer...can't imagine how long that would take by hand!
