what is the difference between 6 and 4 pins ?

i have this camera i wanna transfer video to my comp using a firewire
the camera has a 4 pin jack and the computer has 6 and 4 pins

is 6 or 4 better for transfering Video?

the two additional pins in the 6 pin port is for providing power to the connected device. So, you can connect up stuff like a an IPod and charge it up. Only 4 of the pins are used for data transfer... so its no difference in speeds... 🙂
