We use Novell 4.x as network OS and each machine have NT4.0 Workstation with NTFS and the setup on both OS and hardware is the same on all computers in our company.

This user is reading from a disk on a UNIX server. When she access and modify a file called Gt12896_04.fh8 she saves it as Gt128964.fh8 (ie. it leaves out the "_04&quot😉, and that's causing BIG troubles for us.

There is no way it will accept more than 8 characters in that filename......and no one else that use that file have any problems at all!!

I had a similiar problem recently, turns out someone in the office reinstalled Office 95 on their machine, while everyone else was running Office 97. Unfortuntly 95 didnt support long filenames, it can open them, just not save (file or into a driectroy) Double check the end users machine first if everyone else is working on the network fine.

If you are saving this file to the Novell server, make sure you have long name space (long.nam) loaded and added to the volume in question.
