Need help, explorer.exe crashes and restarts at random (Win2k Pro)

This has started happening recently, and I can't seem to figure out a pattern. Basically at random times when doing stuff in Windows (moving files, highlighting files etc.) I will get a dialog saying explorer.exe has generated errors and will be closed. The standard error dialog. Now, if I check event viewer I see that I have a bunch of "Winlogon Event ID 1002: The shell stopped unexpectedly and Explorer.exe was restarted." events.

I don't know what the problem could be, nothing else crashes. Just explorer.exe. And after a crash everything is back in working order, I don't have to reboot.

Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have no specific networking software, but I do have the NWLink IPX/SPX protocol installed.
