The network path was not found.

the server is running 2008R2,
the domain is set to: xxx.com
the IP on win7 machine has been set to static, preferred DNS to DS IP.
when i tried to join the domain xxx.com, error is: xxx.com could not be contacted

Make sure your computer's DNS servers are pointed at your domain controllers.

Make sure you're not trying to re-join a computer with a name that has been added before. If you are, you have to log into Active Directory and delete the old device first.

Some basics:

1. Already tried rebooting?

2. For sure have Internet access on the Win7 machine? i.e CNN.com?

3. All the latest Windows updates installed?

1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Yes

result: still same error.

Can You :>
(1) ping the domain server by IP and get a reply?
(2) ping the domain server by Name and get a reply?
(3) ping the domain name and get a reply?

do an nslookup xxx.com from the Win7 box, what is the reply? Is it your Domain Controllers?
