I just bought a p42.40a processor and installed into my motherboard, and it did not even post. The processor says it operates at 1.25 to 1.40 V, and the lowest voltage mobo setting is 1.40v, still, no go. Put back the p4 1.6a, and fires right up. Is the processor dead, or incompatible with the board? The literature says the boar can handle all 400-533 p4's, but I'm stumped (with no other test mobo).

Thanks.

Your new cpu must be a 2.4a prescott (533 fsb with 1 meg cache). I would suggest a newegg refurb motherboard. The via and sis boards from msi are only $35, and the asus p4p8x is only $42. Your old epox board won't run with that cpu.
