Need help encoding a Fraps movie -Xvid+mp3- in Vista

I used to make movies with Fraps captures now I can't use my favorite programs to do it with Vista. In Vegas8 the attributes under MPEG Layer-3 says "No supported formats". Premiere CS3 doesn't even give me an option. I have to use TMPGEnc Xpress to encode it Xvid+mp3. Another problem is Vegas8 doesn't import the Fraps video's audio! Premiere does!? To get the same job I used to do with XP/Vegas7 I would have to extract the audio from the AVI, put the video and audio both in Vegas8, render it uncompressed or something lossless, then bring it into TMPGEnc and encode it! 😛
Any ideas? What non-linear editing program do you use to encode video Xvid with the audio mp3?

Yep one of the first things I installed. 🙂 CCCP Insurgent doesn't show an encoder for MP3. Any other ideas? None of the audio options in Vegas8 look good either, I really like MP3 compression.

Screw this! It must be something gay about Vegas8. I try to recompress the Fraps avi to mpg and when I import it not only does it not have audio but the frames are all red! Everything I try doesn't open properly in Vegas8 but opens perfect in Media Player and Media Player Classic. I'm going to uninstall Vegas8 and install Vegas7. If all works I will demand my money back!
