Just got a DV camcorder and wanna cut certain parts out of video. I use the trim and slide the bars to the section I want cut out. Its right in the middle of the video. It cuts it but doesn't cut it out of the main video.

I am using Ulead video software. Will this software do this? If so how? If not whats another(easy) method? Also what video format should I record to?

It cuts it but doesn't cut it out of the main video.
You could then save the trimmed video as a new, separate video file.

I'll bet the program's Help file can help with this one.

When you save the video, look at your options for what format you save in.

just captured another video and for some reason ppl flicker some as they move or as the camera moves. Is there a way to fix this? Also whats the best video format/setting to capture in to burn to DVD?

I've tried many programs and the Ulead program is not one of the better ones. I never did find a way to get rid of that flicker you mentioned.

The best I've found so far is InterVideo WinDVD Creator. It came bundled with my $59 Samsung DVDRW drive and it has put Pinnacle and Ulead to shame in terms of ease of use and stability.

The guides found HERE have been excellent at spelling out optimal settings for various programs. You'll find a few guides specific to the Ulead software.

What you want is VIRTUALDUB or VIRTULADUBMOD.....save the DV project as a Huffyuv THEN use DIRECT STREAM COPY to save the bits you DO want
