I am trying to repair my laptop. I had a friend that was buying it and took it on vacation. while on vacation he rolled his van and the laptop was thrown in the case. It boots up but the keyboard doesn't work and the case is btoke where an external keyboard plugs it. I found another case with a motherboard on Ebay (it's worth a shot) But I am having trouble on disassimbly. I have repaired several laptops in the past (but not gateway) so I am not totally in the dark.
I am trying to remove the keyboard, I have all visible screws removed including the 4 under the plastic stickers. The monitor goes all the way back for clearance but when I lift on the buttons above the keyboard (which I believe is part of the keyboard) the keyboard raises with it but something is holding it in the middle near the monitor edge. I cant see anymore screws. Any idea?
