Ok, I need some input on what the problem can be. Here is the problem. When playing BF2, everything runs fine for a while (good FPS) then all of a sudden it studders a bit, then locks up(video freeze) with the sound continuing... almost seems to loop or repeat, sometimes going to blue screen, then re-booting, other times it will go blank and the monitor indicates no signal. I initially thought it was overheating, but started logging my temps. 67-70deg at time of last recording, nothing major. Tried different versions of the nvidia drivers, no change. Now here is the strange part.
If it reboots, or if I manually hit the reset button, when it fires back up, I get small pixels that are white throughout the screen, many times showing up where a window was if I closed one. A noticable flicker is also present during the opening and closing of displayed windows, or upon running or closing apps. If I run a graphic intensive game I get major corruption, resulting in another lock and reboot.
However, if I force it to shut down (power disconect) and then start it back up, it will come up fine. Everything looks and runs fine. Can jump right back into BF2, Doom3, etc. without any issue.
The only difference is where one is reset or rebooted from a running(although badly) system and one where power was cut and booted normally. Both take roughly the same time to get back into windows, +/- a couple seconds, so I cant see heat bing an issue.
Any ideas?
