Ihave a Micron Transport zx laptop that came without a battery. I bought a new one and when inserted into the laptop, it powered it on and seemed okay, but then immediately ran out of juice. The charging indicator shows it as charging, but it says it starts at 33% and never increases. It does not charge enough to power on. I need to know if there is any way to tell if it is actually charging, or if not, how to tell if it is the laptop or battery that is failing. Anyone have any suggestions as to how to determine which?

If this is in the wrong forum let me know and I will close the post.

thanks

it probaly charging but the battery may be bad so you charge it for 4 hours and lastes 5 min or less

Hi, Any new battery needs about 24 hours to charge fully. They go down sitting on the dealer's shelf. If the charge indicator says it's chargeing it probably is. Wait at least 24 hrs and then try it. If still no good then the charger or the battery is bad.

Good Luck, Jim

Jim is correct - you should never run a laptop with a battery that has not had a full and complete charge.

Thanks for the help. My current problem is that the laptop is not even detecting the battery. I am not sure if that's caused by the battery being toitally drained or if the motherboard is bad. Any suggestions?

Thanks again.

That tells me the battery is kaput. Does it run OK on A/C with the battery removed? That is important. It means your A/C adapter is working, as well as your laptop.

It runs great on the adapter. I actually have not been too actively looking for a solution because it is only used by my wife to play games, but she is becoming increasingly hostile over it shutting down if the adapter is accidentally disconnected. I have another one somewhere .. somewhere ???? I am likely the least well organized person on this forum, so maybe I can find it within 6 months and see what it does.

Thanks again

Hi all, I am new in this forum, so please to "meet" you guys. My laptop is not a new one and so does the battery. The battery light is flashing green, then three rapid amber flashes over and over continuously. When I remove the power supply connection, the laptop powers down immediately. It acts like the battery or the circuit controlling the battery has stopped working. Any suggestions?
