I bought a Micron PIII500 about two and a half years ago and am now wondering what the fastest CPU I can upgrade to is. Here is a Link to mobo specs I guess I am wondering what the fastest PIII I can get for it, and is it a socket chip or what..... I am not up to speed whatsoever on PC hardware, so any help you can give would be great.

Thanks,

griffin

You'll need a PIII FC-PGA with 100MHZ FSB, not 133 FSB. You'll also need an adapter called a slotket or slocket depending on the manufacturer. Here's a link to www.mwave.com that lists both the 850 processor and a slot adapter.

Seems like the PIII 900 was available in 100FSB, but I am not sure. Maybe someone will jump in with more information.

I'm still using a BX based board like yourself with a 700 PIII on a slotket. Be sure to increase the ram if you can too.

thanks boomerang, that helps alot.

Now I need to decide if it is worth it to spend the money for another 350mhz in processor speed or not. Right now I have 384MB RAM, and plan on adding another 256.

thanks again.
