My $51 XP1600 came in today & would like someone to decipher the #'s on the core & tell me if I got a good date or not.

1999 AMD

Thanks in advance for your help.

AX1600

That means it is a 1600+ Athlon XP

AGOIA

That is the stepping. It is an AGOIA stepping, and yes, that is good.

0213

That means it was made in week 13 of 2002.

I hope this helps..

🙂

that's the same time and core as one of my 1600+'s.... i also got a AROIA from newegg, but it's produced on 02 in the 15th week. is AROIA newer/better? it's on a green ceramic packaging instead of brown...

Thanks, Insane3D.
Now I guess all I need to know is if week 13 of this year was a good week. hehe.
Anyone overclocking this on a KR7A board? If so, how about some bios tips?
Thanks again.

I have a KR7A..I am o/cing an 8mo athlon 1700..I need 1.85v for my max o/c which is 148..it ran stable for awhile at 150fsb but heat in FL killed this...

What type of ram do you have???

My vcore is at 1.85v....

my ram is crucial pc2100 at 148 fsb needs 2.65v ...timings are cas2-2-6-2T...It was recommended not to use 5 setting if one is using the raid/ata connectors which I am....1T is too aggressive with my 2 x 256 pc2100

I have my cpu command set at fast..but I recommend to get max o/c on cpu leave this at normal...

I would guess with your cpu you will not need 1.85v....I would bet if ram is good you will 150fsb with no sweat and maybe higher if you have good ram...remember your other pci components and videocard can affect how high you overclock

I've got one 512mb stick of Samsung PC2700.
I haven't messed with any settings yet.
I didn't know how aggressive of a hsf combo i'd need. I presently have an original Millenium Glaciator. It may or may not do the trick, I don't know.
I've seen several people recommending a $5 hsf from SVC. Is an AX-7 $35 better than this or will mine do the trick?
Thanks for the help & suggestions.
