Option 1) MSI 470 + metro 2033 for 259.99 total (3 yr warranty)
Option 2) EVGA 460 1G Superclocked + metro 2033 for 229.99 (2 yr warranty)

I would get the stock 460 and OC it, given the free performance boost program that evga has distributed, but it's the same price as the EVGA above. I don't plan on SLI and play max at 1920x1080 on my big screen lcd, or sometimes at 1240x1020 on my desktop lcd. I play mostly tf2 but I'd like to try some other, more demanding games like metro 2033. I've got an i5 750 OCd to 3.8ghz and 8gigs of memory. So the question is whether MSI is reliable enough for me to spend the extra 30 bucks and get the 470 for 260. I fully intend on overclocking it as well.

Your input is much appreciated.

In a lot of games GTX460 Oced is about as fast as the GTX470.

However, there are cases where 470 is still quite a bit faster (Metro 2033 and Lost Planet 2):

Lost Planet 2:

Even when the 460 is overclocked to 810mhz, it still can't quite catch the 470: http://www.computerbase.de/artikel/...c_geforce_gtx_460_amp/3/#abschnitt_benchmarks

If you do decide with the 460, I would rather get the MSI Cyclone version: http://www.ncixus.com/products/54624/N460GTX%20Cyclone1GD5/OC/MSI/MicroStar/

Plus it comes with 2 free games: Metro 2033 + either of RE5, SF4, or Dark Void.
If you overclock the 470, you will be looking at almost 480-level of performance.

Bottom line is, I would personally go for the 470 for $30 more. If you want a quieter card, get the 460 though.

Alternatively, if you are concerned about warranty, there is an XFX 5850 for $255 : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-494-_-Product

Thanks for the input. I went with the MSI 470 for $259. It comes with Metro 2033, and another free game (resident evil 5, street fighter IV, or dark void), as well as a week trial of SC2. OCing it should get me close to 480 performance. I have good airflow in my case and low ambient temps so heat shouldn't be a problem and my speakers or headphones should drown out any noise. I'm excited to see what upgrading from an 8800 GTS 320 will be like.

From 8800 320 it will be a gigantic upgrade. Enjoy!
