Seeing if anyone here has some advice. I've worked for a good company for over 5 years. I have very good security currently, but the job is kinda boring and not network admin oriented. This area is too small for me most of the time but I do have some good friends around here and started seeing a woman a few months ago. However, I have no family in this area and most of my good friends are married with kids.

On the other hand, in Phoenix (where I'm from), I have several single friends (going out to bars a lot then), and the IT job market is very good right now. I can have a pretty decent job within a week or two of moving (contract to hire positions [looking at a help desk position working for a Network Admin till I get my feet wet and certs to be one myself.]). I also have some family there.

The financial part of it isn't an issue, cost of living is going to be higher and some of those expenses will be much more then I pay now but my pay is going to be enough to compensate for that.

I live alone now but I will most likely move in with a friend who will need a roommate.

So to summarize:
Springfield MO: decent job but not in a network admin area, not many single friends to go out with on any normal basis, and the usual daily grind I'm used to.

Phoenix, Az: Jobwise getting back into networking in the IT field, several single friends that party a lot, some family close by, and new daily grind to get used to.

Any questions or suggestions are welcomed, just keep it nice please :)
The weather isn't a big deal either, though I prefer the warmer climate of Az then the crappy MO weather. :)

Better pay, better weather, more family, and increased social opportunties.....what's to decide?

What about Andy's frozen custard, do they have that in Pheonix? :)

I dunno man, since you are single without a family i'd probably move. If you had a family I'd say stay, because Springfield is a great place to raise a family in my opinion.

Also if you decide to leave, you have to give me a heads up on the job opening.

You're a stronger man than I. I live in Florida and I crave it all the time. Got some fam I see maybe once a year. I hit that place like every single day I'm there. :)

Their hotsauce is f*kin hot though! I swear I only dip one corner of a chip in there and my mouth is on fire.

Hehe that was my orginal thought, just waivering a bit like I said it's hard to give up 5 years of time in a company for some good and a lot of what-ifs. Not to mention the 2,500+ to move.

From what I saw of Springfield last March, I'd leave. One of the best things about the US is the ease of moving and living in greatly different places, so take advantage of that. If you don't like PHX, move again!
