I was deciding on getting a new 19" Monitor for X-Mas and I was lookin at 3 different models. Samsung SyncMaster 900NF ($439), NEC MultiSync FE950 ($398) or FP950 ($483), Sony CPD-E400 ($474). Now from what I hear the Sony Monitor's are supposed to be the best. Since the prices are not really a huge difference, I would say that its not really an issue here. I would just like to know which is the top performer because I want the best 19" I can find under $500.

Don't forget about the KDS AV-195TF. It has the G400 specs at less than the E400 price.

Where did you find the FP950 for $483?

btw, the Sony E400 is a poor monitor in my opinion. If you want a good Sony go with the G400.

may want to look at KDS monitors. They're VERY cheap for the specs that they carry and as I just learned, they have a very easy and long (3 year) warranty replacement program if yours dies on you.

SONY G400 or E400 (expensive). Sony's will cost you, but if you want the best value go for Samsung.

Well I am aware that the Sony's are a lil' cheaper than the other monitors posted, but if they are really worth the little extra money I might as well spend it because its not like I plan on upgrading monitors every few months...

It's really a matter of preference. The Sony E400 is a piece of crap in my opinion. The G400 on the other hand, is solidly built but you WILL pay a premium. So my advice to you is, if you're going to buy a Sony monitor, don't buy the cheapest one because quality is compromised. (I believe the E400 and G400 are made in different countries.) I myself chose the KDS AV-195TF because it has a better warranty program than Sony does.
