Hey guys, I'm looking at the 9800pro 128 card for around $300 Canadian at BestBuy. I can't afford more than this, so I'm wondering if this is the card to get right now. I want a high end card, I also was wondering what the difference was between this and the all-in-wonder which is $50 more. I want to get VGA inputs eventually on a tv tuner card, but I heard that the all-in-wonder is actually a slower card.

Thoughts and opinions on the 128 9800pro ? Here is the deal

Also I remember there being some talk about one version of the 9800 that was a terrible card, 'castrated' was the word used. Is this that card ? I think it was the non-pro, but I'm not entirely sure.

Thanks

Hey... Well i just got the 9800 pro and i like it a lot... i got it for 200 US and it came with the 9800 xt core and i am deinfitely going to flash it to the 9800 xt... its pretty simple... but anyways, this card is definitely not the best out there but is surely towards the top.... i upgraded from a ti4200 128mb... and this card is really solid. i did not want to wait for the 6600gt AGP version and this card was a perfect alternaitve.

the 9800 pro has been reviewed many times for the best performance/price ratio. 128bit 9800 pro is the card you want to avoid. the video in the link is 256bit so you dont have to worry. the all in wounder is the same but adds an extra tv-tuner.

So this is the same card I'm looking at in the link that you have ? I realize it's not absolute bleeding edge top of the line, but I can't afford such a device at the moment. Thanks for your help!

He's in Canada.

I just bought it for $200 from best buy here in the states with the 256bit interface. Just make sure you have a good enough poweer supply to run it.

Lol why dont you just drive over the border (if not to far away) stay at a hotel or something order it and come back :) lol.

At any rate, i would try for a better deal. Best buy doesn't always have good video card deals.
