lil rudeguy wants a bigger monitor. He currently has 2 22" monitors that are getting old.

He is a big gamer, both on xbone and PC. My thinking is it would make sense to get him a decent tv around 40" to use for xbone and PC gaming and he could use his 22" for text heavy things. My other thought is that I'm sure a monitor would look better for PC gaming and would be plenty big at 28".

The thing he really wants is to make sure whatever I get him will play the sound from his xbone.

Help?

update: got him the HP and he loves it. Its awesome. Thanks guys!

For what it is worth, I know someone who got one of those curved 28" LCD monitors for their game machine (PS4) and they really like it better than playing on the big screen. They say it is sharper, and doesn't ghost as much on fast acting games.

Thanks.

I'm thinking the smaller screen would be a good idea since he would be so close to it but then I have to figure out the sound issue.

You've not mentioned any budget or constraints etc. Still will try and leave something for you.

Erm, it is a bad time right now to be changing screens. As newer tech is expected in a month or two. If only you could wait that long, you could possibly buy something with A-Sync, which also will most likely be HDCP 2.something compliant, and it is a good thing for content (think 4k) going forward. Plus, they will be high-res IPS, and high refresh rate screens.

Erm, if you like something big to game on, and i feel (so ask yourself this) some games are definitely/ decidedly more enjoyable on a bigger screen, then consider Vizio P series if it is in your budget.

edit:
Just as i pressed enter... i notice your post. Still my recommendation in case of a monitor stands. Wait till newer ones are on the market. You will most certainly want a piece of that action if spending that sort of money.

It's all dependent on personal preference. Even when I got my 70 inch HDTV, I sat within 6 feet of it most times I gamed. Sometimes even closer.

Some people like to sit close to a really big screen(first row of theaters), and some people like to sit close to a much smaller screen (Like on top of a 17 inch screen).

Depends on preference.

In options, what is the highest resolution you can select with xbone? How would it look at this monitors resolution, that I'm not sure. I know the xbox 360 was pretty flexible, though the graphics were upscaled to my 1080p monitor I believe. It's been a while.

Thanks a ton! I had just ordered a 28" monitor and soundbar. This is way better.
