I currently getting ready to build a new pc and was wondering what I should get for a few things. So far I have:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+
ASUS A8N-SLI Premium
CORSAIR XMS 2GB DDR 400 (PC 3200)
XFX PVT70GUDE7 Geforce 7800GT 256MB

What I'm wonder if which PSU, HDD, and case should i get? (feel free to comment on ram/vidcard/cpu/mobo)

Case:
I had COOLER MASTER Ammo 533 in mind or Antec LifeStyle SONATA II

PSU:
Antec TruePower 2.0 TP2-550 EPS12V 550W

HDD:
Western Digital Caviar SE WD2500JS 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s

Would 16MB cache matter much or SATA 3.0Gb/s?

Thanks

Stick with 250GB(that WD model is slightly better, but a Seagate SATA 1.5 will do the same thing), get a 3800 X2, or Opteron 165.

You don't need anything more than 450W for that system unless you will be OCing.

Fortron/Xclio/Seasonic/Antec/OCZ/Enermax are good PSUs

I would consider a cheaper mobo... also haven't heard great things about XFX cards. EVGA and MSI seem to be better.

A long time ago there was a lot of talk about poor customer support. However, now I don't hear anything bad about them and they do offer a lifetime warranty IIRC.

Cool thanks for the replies. I was looking at the EVGA but people were saying they were getting artifacts and what not with that particular card (7800gt) so that kinda made me stray from it.

As for what this PC is for... many things.. mostly gaming but encoding etc are done on it sometimes. Also regarding the case, anyone ever try that ammo case before?

Any more thoughts?

Thanks :)

Just curious why Seasonic? Reason I'm going 550 is in case I ever want to SLI. Leaving my options open.

Well, I personally don't recommend SLI.

Seasonic is supposedly one of the best PSU manufacturers, so you can't go wrong with them.

Cooler Master makes good cases, so if you are pleased with that one, keep it.

I like their Centurion series myself.

Even if you did go SLI the Seasonic S12-500 would be more then enough. However, SLI is a complete waste of money.

SLI is a total waste!!!
XFX isn't the best!! I would go with eVGA
Why are you going for the XMS memory??
I would go with the Opteron 165 instead of the X2 4400+
Your case choices look ok, I would go with a Seasonic or Fortron PSU
I wouldn't bother with SATAII, but that's my opinion

Overall build score=C-
