Hey all. I am in need of a new car. I don't want to purchase new since I drive about 1 mile to work and only really drive around town on my days off. The farthest drive I do when I go out with the fiance is usually downtown (25 miles away), but that's not very often. We usually do things local. In about a year we will be buying my fiance a new car (probably an IS250) so I really only wanted to spend about 10k when searching for a car. Now for the choices....
I have 2 friends who say they have cars for me. The first one has a 2005 Mustang V6, auto trans, 65k miles on it. It's got a clean carfax, and he has the service records for it. He did admit that he drove it hard when he first purchased it but he hasn't really abused it and only daily drives it to work now since he is bored of the car and he wants a new one. He stated that the only issue the car has is that the gas gauge is stuck on "E", but the low fuel light works. I searched on the issue and it seems to be a very common issue with the 2005-2008 Mustangs, and is around a $300 fix. He gave me a price of $7,500.
The second car is a friend from work who stated that he has a very old (76 year old) relative who is selling his car. He purchased it new and has had it since. It's a 2002 Cadillac Eldorado ETC. The car is very clean, and has brand new tires on it. The best part is that the car only has 40k miles on it. He stated he was going to try and sell it for $11,000 but he offered me the car for $8,000.
I don't know much about the Cadillac or even how the newer body style Mustangs are in terms of reliability.
Let me know what you think!
