Need help converting dvd to mpg

My family wants me to edit a dvd of a vacation they went on but the video is really tricky. Im not sure what type of camera it is but it writes the video to a small dvd-r disc. Everytime it records something, it makes a new chapter. When I stick the disk into the computer it plays like a normal dvd and it has a menu with thumbnails of the video. Here are the files on the dvd.
I want to use Pinnacle Studio 10 to edit it but I need to convert it into a mpg/mpeg/wmv file. I tried using vob2mpg but it made a wierd video that skipped around alot and was only 17 seconds long. Can anyone help me? Thanks.

Do you just want to cut out scenes or do you want to add graphics and effects?
DVDAuthor can cut clips out and create a new menu and chapters, in theory you could also move scenes around. You can do this using the VOB files, no need to convert.

Check out some of these toos here (if you decide to convert the video):
