Question Need help connecting new Graphics card to Power supply

The 4070 super should come with an adapter for 12 pin to 2x8 pin.
Your PSU should come with modular pcie cables that are 2x6+2 pin.
Connect those to the new GPU.
 
So 2 seperate 2x6+2 from the PSU into the into the splitter ? BTW why call them 2x6+2 when you could just say 8 pin?

Yes.

Because they can also be used as 6 pins, and if they are straight 8 pin only those are meant to plugged into the motherboard directly and NOT into your GPU. Modern power supplies have up to three dedicated 8 pin cables for direct connection to the motherboard. It is my understanding these are not to be confused.

There are 8 pin PCIe power connectors, they usually have a tab between two of the pins.

Cleaner look, but the downside is that you can only plug that in to an 8 pin socket on the GPU. It won't physically fit if your GPU has a 6 pin, so most power supplies ship with a 6+2 pin to give you more flexibility.
 
I found my build box, always save everything. There was only 1 6+2 pin cable in there. Do I need to buy another ?
 
Did you have a GPU in the system previously? What wires were connected to it?

Edit: Your PSU should have 2 cables for PCIe, and each cable should have 2 connectors for the GPU end. So technically you only need one cable.
 
The RM750 Rx should definitely have come with 2x PCIe GPU cables with 4x connectors total.

If possible, you want to split the load onto two independent cables.
 
Yes its a GTX 1050TI, which I'm currently using.If I do need to get another PCIe GPU cable, do I need to get it from Corsair directly?

So that's your first PCIe power cable, then the second one in your build box is the final one you need, correct?

Does your 1050Ti have a cable currently plugged into it? Yes you would need to get any additional cables directly from Corsair as pinouts on the PSU side could be different from other vendors.

The GTX1050Ti may not have used supplemental PCIe power, just the PCIe slot itself. Only 75W TDP.
 
Right on, I've forgotten this old age of bus powered GPUs 😀

A quick trip to eBay shows this is likely the case, I haven't seen a 1050ti yet with a power plug.

@Bsmooth did you happen to hook one up and tuck it away? I've done this on some client builds since it was easy to add build time and then they didn't need to keep track of their cables to have enough to power a typical GPU, same with one SATA chain. Sometimes modular PSU's encourage cable loss! Sounds like you did a good job of keeping your stuff together, I don't always trust others 😀
 
If you are hard up to find a cable, ping me. I am pretty sure that RMx cables are interchangeable and I am sure I've got one that is unused.

The 4070 Super is a max TDP of 220W. 75W is available from the PCIe slot, so you only need 145W from the 8 pin. Each 8 pin can do up to 288W according to most online documentation. So using 1 cable with 2 connectors into the adapter is more than sufficient.
 
Yeah, the "safe" way is to use two GPU cables, but even if all the power is pulled from the one cable its rated for the job.

LOTS of people building their PCs do this. Many do it just because one cable is cleaner to route than two! I know that masses doing it doesn't make it "right", its just not that you'll be alone in taking this approach. You've got a quality PSU.

Does your adapter have three 8 pin inputs or two? I know the 4080 Super and 4070 Ti Super I've dealt with lately had three, but those were both 300+ watt cards.
