need help connecting digital camera as webcam

Hi, my girlfriend's in italy right now and doesn't have a webcam but she does have a Canon SD600 and a JVC digital camcorder and a dell 700m laptop. Does anyone know how to use either of these devices as a webcam so that we can use it to video conference with skype? Thanks
 
Hi There!

It should not be a problem - With the camera connected, swicthing the mode on the camera to 'Video' should allow your chat program to interface with the camera as a webcam, most do.
